Summer is the perfect time to experiment with eyecatching hues: from bright tones to pastels, we break down the most stylish colours of the season.

Like the Siclian sun, yellow is the colour of light, of Sicilian lemons. This year 'yellow-mania' is seen on tops galore: MSGM's top is inspired by the 1980's with structured shoulders, Michael Kors applies the tone to blouses, and Dsquared2's jacket stands out in a crowd. Yellow also spreads to accessories, with Stella McCartney's Falabella, pouches by Alexander Mcqueen and Tory Burch sandals. Orange is decidedly summery, and equally as important this season. Amen's long dresses denote a sense of eclectic, sensual style, to be worn with Givenchy's on-trend sandals. Strawberry: a sweeter shade of red and one of liveliest colours of the season, seen on Burberry's t-shirts, Moncler's springtime down jackets and glamourous accessories by Dsquared2

Brighten up with a touch of colour for the summer months

Green: colour of freshness. If forest green is the perfect winter hue, for summer green becomes a more marine shade, seen in Alexander Mcqueen's stunning silk chiffon long dress, to be worn with Nightmarket's green Flower necklace. Stella McCartney meanwhile offers a casual alternative to the jacket, with a maxi cardigan in bright green. Fuchsia: also know as 'Hollywood pink' the tone pops up every year in various collections. This SS15 Alexander Mcqueen leads the way with chiffon dresses, textured animal prints and structured bags. The ideal solution for a special event, Stella McCartney's long silk dresses with sweetheart neckline cannot be beaten.
