FOCUS ON

THE ART OF THE TROUSER LENGTH

January 21, 2015

Long and accomodating, falling to the floor. Short, with turn-up or without, leaving a glimpse of ankle or coloured sock. Or something in between, for those that prefer to stay safe and avoid risks. As far as trousers are concerned, every man suits a different size. Here is our simple guide to shorten the length of trousers based on the style. Take inspiration from key images from Milan Fashion Week, which has just come to an end: they are sure to be the top trends for next years.

TOO LONG

Sometimes, long trousers fall all the way to the floor. Or lay delicately on the shoe. Clearly the effect, once worn, is different to what we have become used to for many seasons (for example, irregular pleats at calf level). However, a little goes a long way and everything will become clear with a few changes. We recommend long trousers for men that are not too short. Made with cotton, try Dell'Oglio or Dsquared2, for wool, try Santaniello.

TOO SHORT

Short, just enough to see a peep of ankle or sock. With or without turn-up. This is the trend we have grown used to in the last few years. Be careful however when it comes to the height: this type of style doesn't length the silhouette. In fact, its notably shortens it. Styles we recommend are: Dell'Oglio flannel jeans, navy blue wool trousers by Brunello Cucinelli and super elegant tuxedo trousers by Dolce & Gabbana. For every moment of the day. Any preferences?

JUST RIGHT!

The Latin saying goes 'in the middle just right' (in media status virtue). And the motto is a good one to go by when choosing trousers. For those less daring, we suggest the perfect length. r tutte le altezze. Che ne pensate del modello proposto da Givenchy? Di lana grigia con tasche invisibili. E quello di lana herringbone color marrone di Incotex? Perfetto per i tuoi weekend in alta quota.
